Hi, I'm sad today because I've read a discussion on a lesbian board where a lot of gay femmes wrote that butches are disgusting and making the lesbians look bad. And they say butches are the reason why we don't get our rights. What's your opinion about this?
It is human nature to try and place blame when something goes wrong or isn’t going the way we want it to. It seems to me like these women are scared and angry at the constant bigotry displayed by our country as I think most of us are. It’s terrifying to think that even though we have developed so much and seemingly gone beyond hatred as a country, we as lesbians still are lacking our most basic rights. The blame displayed by these women was obviously misplaced, however that isn’t an excuse. We need to support one another or we are never going to get what we want.
